Because you have to pay the entire charge cards bill of in full each month, will it still build credit like how a credit card does?

You can use this credit monitoring service to pre-estimate future scores for different scenarios of such payments – buildcredit.ifastnet.com

If you do not pay on your unSecured Credit Cards can they take away any of your assets?

If you are talking about an unpaid credit card debt, the answer is generally no for small balances (maybe $2000 or less, all depends on the company). What will happen is they will charge-off the account, you will be harassed by collections, and you will have a nasty credit record for the next 7 years.

True, for larger amounts, they will place a judgment against you that may need to be satisfied if you buy or refinance a house. As a mortgage underwriter, I rarely saw garnishments for small credit card collections. Child support or tax liens were much more frequent.

Also, "assets" is rather vague. If you have liquid assets, maybe talk with them about a settlement, which will also put a nasty mark on your credit, but you won’t be referred to collections.

Would a secured card help my damaged credit rating much or is it just fees and more fees?

Yes they do. And not only do they raise your score if you use it wisely, you’ll have an excellent chance to convert it into an unsecured card and get the deposit back with some interest. I had a secured card with my bank that I put up a $1000 deposit to get a $1000 line of credit. I bought small items on it and quickly paid it in full each month. It took me about 9 months before the card became unsecured and I got my deposit back. I ended up redepositing the money back into a certificate of deposit which I used as collateral for a signature loan that I quickly paid off to boost my score even higher. My advice with a secured card is to start off small (like $200-300), charge less than $30 on it, pay it in full every month, and increase the security deposit if you can every couple of months, if you have the extra cash to spare while it’s temporarily tied up in the security deposit. The higher you can get the limit while it’s secured, the better it will look when it’s unsecured. Remember, if you use it wisely, you’ll get the deposit back, you will have saved you quite a little nest egg emergency fund and you’ll have an unsecured card to boot.

If you have a checking or a savings account, I would try where you do you banking first. Sometimes they offer secured cards or even unsecured cards with a small limit. Orchard Bank(HSBC), Bank Of America, and New Millenium offers a secured card as well as bank.

hey, my wife and I have been looking into credit cards like Avion, or Aerogold and also Air Miles and frequent flyer points, etc…

We’re wondering what experiences you have with these different reward services and which you feel offers the best rewards.

thanks

Pretty much the best way to go is to get a credit card that is linked to a specific airline that you are likely to use.

That way you earn miles every time you use your card for anything you use the card for. You can get double or triple miles credit than the guy sitting in the seat next to you.

A good thing is to sign up with that is part of Star Alliance. You can use other airlines, get credit when using the others or even use your miles to take those other flights.

I’m from Germany and German Prepaid Credit Cards are never embossed. Is it the same in the US and Canada?

some of them are and some of them are not.

I am a student and want a credit card for emergencies.

There are a few ways. You can get a prepaid Visa or Mastercard. You can also get a Direct Deposit Visa or Mastercard.

One great way to improve your FICO score is to get a secured VISA or MasterCard. A secured credit card is one in which you open up a savings account with the card issuing bank. This savings account is used as a security deposit for your credit card. Your credit limit is based on the amount that you deposit into the savings account.

Once you have established a good record of payments on the credit card, the savings account funds are returned to you. Only use this secured credit card for gas or a few small purchases each month. When you get your bill, pay it immediately but overpay it by about $10 – $15. That way you always have a negative balance. The FICO system accelerates your credit rating quickly by doing this. Just make sure that you NEVER are late on making that payment.

This method worked very well for me when I had very bad credit. After receiving my secured credit card, it took about 8 months before I was receiving pre-approved non secured VISA and MasterCard offers from large banks.

Your palms sweat, your heart races, your mouth goes dry. You have to pick out a gift. If this is how you feel, then a Visa gift card may be what you are looking for. You want to give a gift that will be appreciated, but you don’t know what kind of movie the person likes. What is their favorite restaurant? It can be a difficult position to be in when looking for something special, but have no idea what to get.

Buying Visa gift cards can keep you from being embarrassed by a bad gift choice. You would hate to be at a birthday party and get the same gift as someone else. Or buying them something they totally have no use for.

Visa gift cards are so versatile that the receipt can chose their own gift virtually anywhere. They can choose to use it at the movies, the grocery store, maybe buy a new pair of shoes, and even shop online. The best gift is one that they can pick out themselves, one that they are sure is going to fit, be a style they like and will appreciate.

Visa gift cards are accepted at millions of places, be it across the country or across the world. The possibilities that the card will afford the receiver will be countless, as the Visa gift cards can be used anywhere that accepts the Visa credit card.

Visa gift cards can be the perfect solution to any gift-giving problem. Because they can be purchased in any amount from $25 to $500, they can be used for weddings, birthdays or graduation. Also, they are wonderful also for corporate gifts or holidays since they can be shipped directly to the receiver or the purchaser.

Buying Visa gift cards is very easy, as are payment options. All major credit cards are accepted as payment and if you purchase on line, the card is shipped as soon as the transaction has been completed.

The lucky recipient signs the gift cards when they arrive. Once this is done, the card has the same safety as a credit card, when a purchase is made; they sign the receipt as proof of identity. Another benefit to the Visa gift card is that it doesn’t have the risks of overspending.

Summary:

If you don’t know what to get for a gift, or just don’t have time to shop, you can show your good intentions by getting a Visa gift card. You will be thanked for it because you have given the best gift of all – freedom. The card can be used for anything the recipient wants, provided that they use it in a store that accepts Visa Credit Cards.

Canadian Credit Cards

Posted by admin | 26/02/10 | Tagged Unsecured Credit Cards

Credit cards are a device used to get the consumer credit at the time of purchasing a product. Canadian Credit cards may be issued by a business firm in Canada, such as a department store or an oil company, to make it easier for consumers to buy their products especially if the person is a Canadian living in all provinces of Canada. Otherwise credit cards may be issued by third parties, such as a bank or a financial services company, and used by consumers to purchase goods and services from other companies.

When a person goes into bankruptcy he has to hand in all his credit cards to the trustee. After that person has been discharged from bankruptcy, he or she is often a good credit risk, since that person has no debt. Even though, a discharged bankrupt often has a difficult time getting a new credit card. An option is to acquire a secured Canadian credit card.

A secured Canadian credit card is a card backed-up or secured by funds that he have deposited with the financial institution. The card looks like a credit card, and acts like a credit card but will have a limit depending on the amount of money that secures the card. A Canadian credit card is a product where the security deposit user has provided is equal to the credit limit of his credit card. The deposit amount will be held in an interest bearing account with interest and paid to the user annually on the anniversary of the opening of the security deposit account.

The Government of Canada maintains a database of the Canadian Credit cards fees, features, interest rates and reward programs of all the credit cards available in Canada. This database is updated on a quarterly basis with the information supplied by the Canadian credit card issuing companies. Information in the database is published in every four months on the website of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC).

The database also feeds into an interactive tool on the FCAC website. The interactive tool uses several interview-type questions to build a profile of the user’s credit card usage habits and needs, eliminating unsuitable choices based on the profile, so that the user is presented with a small number of credit cards and the ability to carry out detailed comparisons of features, reward programs, interest rates.

Credit history remains an important factor in qualifying for an unsecured Canadian Credit Card. In case one has a good Canadian Credit Card rating along with suitable income levels can easily obtain a Canadian credit card.

Canadian credit card is approved almost definite, in case one is a Canadian citizen or a permanent Canadian citizen, above 19 years having a Social Insurance Number. Besides, he should be having a permanent resident in Canada, should not be a bankrupt. Visit http://www.canadian-credit-cards.info for more information

In order to build and maintain good credit, you must select, use, and pay on your credit cards, and other loans, wisely. Each step is important. Put them all together and your credit rating should rise. Make bad choices and you might hurt yourself in some surprising ways.

When applying for credit, only sign up for cards you’re comfortable using for years to come. Getting into the habit of always signing up for the newest card and transferring your balances from the older ones to the latest with the lowest introductory rate can seem smart if it saves you interest and lowers your monthly payment. The truth is, however, that the credit reporting agencies may not be impressed, especially if you close your older cards. Payment history counts when it comes to your credit rating, so you don’t want to close accounts that you have held open for many years. So, if you close your older card when you transfer your balances to the new one, you’re really doing your credit score no favors. Avoid this credit rating pitfall by choosing your cards wisely to begin with and sticking to them.

The oldest myth about credit cards is the idea that you should pay off your cards every month to earn an excellent credit rating. Set your own record straight! Credit reporting agencies like Equifax and TransUnion show the most favor to credit card holders who carry small balances on their cards month to month. This proves to the agency that you’re comfortable carrying and responsibly managing debt. Cardholders who follow this rule can watch their credit-rating rise.

Surely you’ve also heard that making payments on time is a must. Unlike the old myth above, this rule is tried and true. Paying less than the minimum payment or making your payment late will surely bring your credit score down and may also saddle you with late fees that lead to even higher balances. Always make at least the minimum payment on time to avoid being labeled slow or delinquent. If you do have late payments in your credit history, try to stay current on your new cards for at least two years. The reporting agencies pay the most attention to the recent past, not ancient history… so by getting back on track you can help your score go up.

To start building good credit with your credit card, you’ll need to obtain the card, use it, and make the first payment before you’ll see any effect on your credit score. You may have to sign up for a secured card in the beginning, which means you’ll be required to put money into an account controlled by the credit card company in order to obtain the card. In this way, any debt you incur using the card is secured by the funds you’ve placed in the credit card company’s account. It’s a way for a creditor to take less risk when dealing with someone who has poor credit or no credit.

A secured card is just as good as any other when it comes to building credit, though. Once you’ve made your first payment on time for at least the minimum required amount to the creditor, you should see your credit score start to rise in the following weeks. If you carry a low balance month to month on the card, your credit should improve markedly assuming you have no other problem credit accounts pulling your score down. Other ways to build credit from scratch can include getting a low limit store card or a gas card… just be sure that you can make the payments and stay current.

While many consumers misuse credit cards and make poor decisions about purchases, management, and payment habits, you can see that responsible use of credit cards can actually be beneficial and is nearly mandatory when it comes to building and maintaining a good credit score.
